The iPhone is the greatest cellphone there is, no doubt about it. I have had so many cellphones, and this is by far the most advanced, user-friendly phone I’ve owned. There is a big problem I have with it though, reception. AT&T is probably the worst company I have been with as far as reception goes, and to top it off, their customer service is just plain horrible. Raising the bar? I don’t see the bar, how are you supposed to raise it AT&T? Makes absolutely no sense.

I have been calling AT&T for the past weeks telling them how bad their reception is, and they tell me I’m not supposed to be getting any dropped calls in my area. Well guess what AT&T, all lies. There was a point where I wanted to just cancel my iPhone service, and go back to Verizon, which has excellent reception anywhere I’ve been. I remember getting stuck in the desert about 30 miles west of Yuma, CA. I had reception with Verizon then! Anyway, last time I spoke to a manager at AT&T, and he told me he was going to do the best he could to get some techs to check the towers near my area, haven’t heard from him since, and my reception hasn’t gotten any better.

I had a Treo 650 which has terrible reception with Verizon but it is usable most of the time. After researching the ATT web maps of my area I bought an iPhone. I absolutely loved it, when it worked. Problem is I had no, I mean no bars, reception at home. So I returned it to Apple after a week, full refund was easy. ATT was hell, their customer service is soo bad, the worst. I won’t own an iPhone until it’s available on Verizon.

That’s too bad Marty, I had great reception with my Treo 700p that I used to own. That sad thing is, AT&T won’t admit how bad their service is, and they make customers think it’s their fault. One of the things I hated coming out of their mouths was when they would tell me, “this is a MOBILE phone” not intended to act as a phone for your home like a landline.

I agree with everything said about AT&T. I was actually looking into changing services when the iPhone came out. I chose the iPhone over decent signal. The reception was so bad that I almost said ’screw it’ and was about to get rid of it. My friend told me about a signal booster called the Zboost(you can find then at:www.wi-ex.com). Its a wireless box that you install (very easily, might I add) in your home. After plugging it all in my iPhone began to actually work…it was like a Christmas miracle. Before you give up AT&T and the iPhone I would try one of these things. Worked for me.

Wait. So, I’m supposed to drop another $200-400 for a signal booster so my iPhone actually works!! Is the iPhone really worth all that?
